Redwood Implementation Phases in Oracle Cloud Applications
The adoption of Redwood in the Oracle Utilities Application Framework is planned in phases to ensure a manageable transition for customers and partners while leveraging the latest technologies. These phases include:
1. Initial Phase
This phase focuses on style updates and basic Redwood features, such as:
- A new skin design
- Unified Search
- Enhanced personalization
- Contextual Insights
- Other exclusive baseline features
These updates are available to cloud customers in current releases and to on-premises customers in the latest versions. The legacy user interface will be phased out in future releases, as all new features are exclusive to Redwood.
2. Engine Changes
The legacy rendering engine will be replaced with Oracle’s new rendering engine to:
- Enhance user experience performance
- Improve compatibility
- Establish a robust foundation for future Redwood adoption
The first components of this new engine will appear in upcoming cloud releases, with further development ongoing.
3. Template Implementation
Redwood templates will be progressively adopted to deliver a more consistent and intuitive user experience. This transition will:
- Gradually transform the existing user interface into Redwood templates
- Extend these templates to Software Development Kits, ensuring extensions align with the consistent Redwood design
4. New Technologies
Redwood introduces innovations to enhance data interaction and efficiency. For instance:
- Unified Search leverages Oracle’s advanced search engine technology, allowing users to find data more efficiently
- Additional innovative features will roll out in upcoming releases
Ongoing Development and Updates
Some of these phases have already been implemented, while others are in progress. Changes will be detailed in release notes and designed to minimize costs for customers. Each release ensures a smoother transition to Redwood and maximizes its value for users.
